This Early Imperial Roman Gold Pendant in the shape of a snake was made from a gold wire. It features an “S” shape and shows signs of its use during Antiquity.

Complete and in very good condition.
A circular vessel with a rounded profile, an inwardly rolled edge and a small disk-shaped, low foot. The medallion, with its brown background, is decorated in the “champlevé” technique. The animal represented in the tondo is a hare.
This idol is composed of three elements separated from each other: the bottle-shaped base, the cylindrical stem and the standard with the stylized animals.
The cross, that can still be opened and closed, is composed of two bronze boxes with were molded and joined by hinges. A thick suspension ring enabled the encolpion to be worn as a pendant.
