This Statuette of a Wild Sheep or a Ram was carved from a thin stone pebble, which is still partially translucent, despite the current dark and worn appearance of the surface.
This axehead is made of a dark green stone mottled with black. It was carved from a long and thin fragment of jadeite. The shape recalls that of a drop, with a slender, well-rounded butt and an arched blade, which is not completely sharpened.
Such jars are largely documented all throughout the Near Eastern world. Our example is simply globular, but nevertheless very elegant.
This small jar is more elaborate in shape than most other contemporary stone vessels. The perfectly globular body stands on its own despite the absence of base.
