Hellenistic Small Glass Bowl
This core-formed bowl is simply decorated with lathe-cut grooves just below the lip. The base is slightly concave. Towards the end of the Hellenistic period, glass definitely supplanted clay as a raw material for the manufacture of containers in all areas of daily life. With versatility like no other known material in ancient times, abundant availability, lightness and ease of use, glass enabled the imitation of a wide range of other materials (precious metals especially), whether in the form, the design or the color.
Compartmented Seal with a suspension Ring
This circular seal, slightly larger than the average size, shows a perfectly symmetrical internal decoration composed of circles arranged around a central cross.
Bactrian Alabaster Chalice
This object, whose shape recalls a chalice, was carved from a monolith of calcite (alabaster) that is similar in color and appearance to the stone commonly used by Egyptian sculptors for luxury tableware in the late 4th millennium B.C. already.
Small Flask in the shape of a Date
A beautiful, small Roman glass flask that imitates the shape of a date. The vertical grooves recall in a very realistic way the wrinkles of the dried fruit. The vessel is complete and intact.
